If you’re the type who can spend hours among books, set aside several days in October. The 2026 Monterrey International Book Fair will return to Cintermex with nine days dedicated to stories, knowledge, and connections among readers.
The 34th edition of the Monterrey International Book Fair (FIL Monterrey) will take place from October 10 to 18, 2026, and will offer free general admission, making it one of the free cultural events to enjoy in the city that month.
And keep in mind, it’s not just about browsing booths and leaving with new books under your arm. The fair brings together literature with disciplines such as science, the humanities, art, education, and technology through various activities and events.
What will the 2026 Monterrey International Book Fair have in store?
One of the first details announced is that El Colegio Nacional will be the Guest of Honor in 2026. This Mexican institution brings together specialists from different fields of knowledge, and one of its objectives is to promote culture, science, and the humanities.
The fair’s full program has yet to be confirmed, so we’ll have to wait to see the final list of authors, presentations, talks, workshops, and other activities that will be part of this edition.
The FIL Monterrey also has a long history in the city. Its first edition took place in 1989, organized by students, professors, and librarians from the Tecnológico de Monterrey. Since 1992, Cintermex has been its venue.
A fair that brings together thousands of readers in Monterrey

To give a sense of the event’s scale, the organizers note that the last recorded edition drew more than 315,000 visitors and featured 733 authors and special guests.
So October will once again be a month to seek out new reads, discover authors, and have a good time surrounded by books. Plus, with free general admission, you’ll be able to explore the fair without paying an entrance fee.
