Have you tried some scientific tourism? This August you have a date with the universe. This is the Astronomical Tour at the UANL Observatory, an experience that combines science, adventure and nature in one of the most spectacular environments in Nuevo León.
This tour takes place at the UANL Astronomical Observatory, located at the top of Cerro del Picacho, in Iturbide, and the best part is that there will be three dates available during the month:
- August 9
- August 16th
- August 17th
The most impressive thing? the moon will be at 100% illumination, ideal for a detailed and magical observation of the night sky.
The adventure begins with a departure from Monterrey with transportation included. After a stop in Iturbide, the climb begins in 4×4 safari vehicles to the top of the hill, where participants will settle in a camping area surrounded by pure nature.
During the day there will be activities such as a visit to a local mezcal factory, hiking, and plenty of free time to relax in the sierra.
However, the most awaited part comes at night: an astronomical talk with researchers, group dynamics and the observation of the moon from the dome of the Tlapiani telescope, a technological jewel of Mexican science.
The experience culminates on Saturday with an emotional observation of the sunrise from the observation deck, group breakfast and a final walk before returning to Monterrey.

Costs of the Astronomical Tour at the UANL Observatory
Costs vary according to age and if you need a tent. If you already have your own tent, the cost is $2,836 pesos per person. For children from 7 to 12 years old, the cost is $2,333 pesos.
