The Monterrey Ballet returns with a charming work that combines humor, love and entanglements, all complemented by selected excerpts from Napoli.
The first thing you should know is that this will be the work with which they will start their 2025 season and it is a story full of humor, romance and lots of energy on stage, it will be a ballet for the whole family!
La Fille Mal Gardée will have six performances in total, and the plot revolves around Lisset, daughter of the widow Simone, who is in love with Colin, a young farmer.
However, her mother wishes to marry her off to Alain, the clumsy son of a wealthy vintner. After moments of fun, dancing and conflict, Simone finally accepts her daughter’s love for Colin, culminating in a joyous celebration.
The best part? The work will be complemented by excerpts from Napoli, created in 1842 by August Bournonville. A ballet that reflects the vibrant and simple life of an Italian village.
Here you will learn about the romance between Teresina, a young village girl, and Genaro, a humble fisherman. In this presentation, the Monterrey Ballet performs the Pas de Six and the Tarantella from the third act.
