The Monterrey Museum of Contemporary Art (MARCO) is preparing to host one of the most important exhibitions of the year. It is Constellations and Drifts: Latin American Art from the FEMSA Collection, an exhibition that marks the beginning of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the FEMSA Collection and brings together nearly 170 works by more than 115 Latin American artists.
The exhibition will be open to the public from March 20 to August 9, 2026, and offers a journey through different ways of understanding Latin American art from the 20th century to the present day.
The exhibition includes works by iconic figures such as Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington, Lygia Clark, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and José Clemente Orozco, along with pieces by contemporary artists such as Francis Alÿs, Vivian Suter, Beatriz González, Damián Ortega, and Julio Galán.
In addition, the exhibition includes a work specially commissioned from Argentine artist Ad Minoliti, created for this presentation in Monterrey.
A new way to explore Latin American art

The curation of the exhibition is based on the idea of constellations, a model that avoids following a linear narrative and proposes connections between works, eras, and geographies.
This approach allows us to observe how different generations of artists dialogue with each other through themes, aesthetics, and historical contexts.
According to Eugenia Braniff, associate curator and advisor to the FEMSA Collection and Biennial, this will be the most extensive public presentation of works from the FEMSA Collection ever shown in Mexico.
The exhibition allows visitors to rediscover emblematic pieces from the collection in dialogue with works that have been added to the collection in recent decades.
Beyond celebrating five decades of work, the exhibition also seeks to open new conversations about art in the region. Through different perspectives, Constellations and Drifts invites us to rethink Latin American art beyond national or chronological categories.
As part of the experience, the exhibition will be accompanied by a public program of conferences, talks, workshops, and activations that will expand on the themes and reflections raised in the exhibition.
