If you’ve always wanted to learn how to take spectacular photos of the night sky, this event is for you. The Nuevo León Astronomical Society will host the first Astrophotography Workshop in Nuevo León, an event that will combine learning, stargazing, camping, and activities for both amateurs and experts.
The event will take place on Saturday, July 11, and Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Base Huasteca, within La Huasteca Park. Over the course of two days, attendees will learn techniques for capturing the Milky Way, nightscapes, and various astronomical phenomena using everything from a cell phone to specialized equipment.
A weekend to learn how to photograph the stars
The program will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will include lectures and workshops led by specialists in astronomy and astrophotography from different parts of Mexico and abroad.
Highlights of the activities include a talk on how to photograph the Sun, a workshop on selecting and using telescopes, a lecture on astronomical instrumentation, and another focused on astronomical orientation.
In the evening, there will be simultaneous workshops on deep-sky photography, astro-landscaping, and smart telescopes. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to put what they’ve learned into practice by photographing the breathtaking mountainous landscapes of Nuevo León under one of the region’s most spectacular skies.
Camping, telescopes, and activities during the World Cup
The event will be part of the festive atmosphere that Nuevo León will experience during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, so it is also designed for domestic and international visitors seeking a unique experience during their stay in the state.
In addition to the educational activities, there will be music, an exhibition of telescopes and specialized equipment, a sale of astronomy accessories, late-night snacks, and a themed raffle at the end of the event. Attendees will also receive a digital certificate sent via email.
