Did you see a post announcing the arrival of the magical lantern festival in the city? Before you buy your tickets you have to read this article! Well, everything indicates that the Thai Lantern Festival that would come to Monterrey on three different dates, called Siam Vibes Thai Fest, is a scam and will not happen.
During the last few days many people have reported the announcement of a magical event full of thousands of lights floating in the sky, live music, delicious food and more , which promises to replicate the experience of the Chiang Mai Festival in Thailand.
According to the official website (siamvibesfest.com), attendees could live the experience of writing a message on their floating lamp and then releasing it in a ritual, in addition to enjoying a Thai style buffet where you will enjoy an exotic dinner.
This event announced its arrival in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey, with few tickets available, as it was announced that tickets were already on sale and flying in the three cities.
The Thai Lantern Festival in Monterrey was announced for June 15, July 6 and August 3, 2025, and was supposed to be held at Fundidora Park from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
It is advertised as a 100% pet friendly event and also biodegradable, as they assure that the lanterns are biodegradable and 100% safe, as they would self-destruct without polluting.
Is the Thai Lantern Festival in Monterrey a scam?
It all sounded very nice, didn’t it? However, a few days ago, the Mexican Government’s website published that Profeco warns about possible fraud in this event:
“The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) alerts the consumer population about an event called Siam Events Fest, Thai Festival, announced by the company Siamvibes, to be held supposedly in the cities of Mexico, Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, and Guadalajara, Jalisco, and which could be a fraud.”
It also warns that, in order to be sold in Mexico, the prices should be advertised in pesos and not in dollars. The sale is advertised with a 55% discount off the first 500 tickets purchased, and tickets cost $45 dollars ($19.95 dollars with the discount).
The official website (siamvibesfest.com) mentions that tickets include a free buffet of Thai food throughout the event, three drinks, a flashlight kit, a notebook for wishes, a t-shirt and a cap.
Profeco calls to report any irregularity or abuse to the Consumer Telephone: 55 5568 8722 and 800 468 8722, as well as through social networks: @Profeco, and on Facebook: ProfecoOficial.
