Get the fan out! The National Meteorological Service (SMN) informed that a new heat wave has started and the weather in Monterrey will be on fire.
What you should take into account? This week temperatures could exceed 40 degrees Celsius, so Civil Protection has warned about the risk of heat stroke.
The first thing you should know is that this heat wave will be present from May 13 to 18 approximately, so you can expect temperatures between 40º and 45º degrees during those days.
How to survive the weather in Monterrey?
Civil Protection of Nuevo Leon has given the following recommendations to avoid possible heat stroke:
Drink plenty of water constantly
Avoid drinks that dehydrate you or that are too sugary.
Avoid sun exposure
Limit outdoor activities between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Wear light-colored, lightweight clothing
Stay in cool, well-ventilated places
Protect children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and your pets.
How can you recognize heat stroke? Warning signs include headaches, dizziness, nausea, hot and flushed skin, excessive sweating or lack of sweating, weakness, confusion, and even loss of consciousness.
If you have any of these signs, seek medical attention immediately and move to a cool place to try to lower your body temperature.
Don’t forget that your best allies for this season are sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and a bottle of water!
