The catrinas are returning to the streets of Monterrey! The 2026 Monterrey Calaveras Parade now has a confirmed date and will fill the city center with music, dance troupes, and floats to celebrate the Day of the Dead.
The event will take place on Sunday, October 25, at 4:00 p.m., with completely free admission. This event is a great way to enjoy time with the family and kick off the Day of the Dead celebrations before November.
This is the seventh edition of the Desfile de Calaveras, also known as “Regios hasta los tuétanos,” an initiative organized by Jardines de Juan Pablo that began in 2018.
What will be featured at the 2026 Monterrey Calaveras Parade?
The event will bring together various expressions of Mexican culture through dance troupes, dance performances, music, and floats decorated with traditional Day of the Dead elements.
Among the highlights will be the catrinas and catrines, as well as characters inspired by Mexican folklore. Elaborate costumes, skull-themed makeup, and expressions of folk art are also expected.
One of the most striking features is that this Day of the Dead parade in Monterrey combines Mexican traditions with elements of Monterrey’s local identity, both in the choreography and in the artistic presentations.
In addition, attendees are welcome to come in costume or with face paint to add to the festive atmosphere, though this is not required.
What will be the route of the Calaveras Parade in Monterrey?
The parade route will wind through downtown Monterrey, with the Macroplaza serving as one of the main focal points of the celebration.
For now, the organizer is planning a tentative route along Ignacio Zaragoza, Washington, and Juan Zuazua streets, starting and ending near the MARCO Museum.
However, the final route and meeting points have yet to be confirmed, so changes may be announced before the event.
