Can you imagine celebrating the Day of the Dead surrounded by trees, with a movie in the middle of the forest and a show inspired by ancient legends? This November 1, Chipinque by Night: Day of the Dead will feature a special program to enjoy our traditions in the heart of nature.
The event will take place on the Plateau of the Chipinque Nature Reserve, where you can enjoy offerings, movies, and a multisensory performance. All for 280 pesos, with activities included in the event ticket.
This experience offers a different way to commemorate the Day of the Dead, combining artistic expressions, stories, and reflections on our relationship with the natural environment.
Movies in the forest, offerings, and a nahual performance
The program will begin at 6:00 p.m. with the presentation of offerings at the altar of the dead. This is a multi-species celebration that honors both human beings and the other living beings that are part of our existence.
At 6:30 p.m., the “cinema in the woods” will begin with a screening of *The Book of Life* (2014), an animated story that follows Manolo’s adventures between the world of the living and the world of the dead.
To close out the evening, at 8:00 p.m., *El quinto elemento y los 20 nahuales* will be presented—a stage show that combines Prague-style black theater, puppets, shadow play, and multimedia elements.
Through stories, songs, and legends, this production invites you to explore elements of the Mayan world and reflect on our connection to nature.
