Attention! the Council for Culture and the Arts of Nuevo León has announced a series of unmissable activities for this season, we tell you everything there will be in Conarte for the Day of the Dead!
From October 25 to November 3 there will be different activities that you won’t want to miss. The participating venues? Casa de la Cultura de Nuevo León, Centro de las Artes, Pinacoteca de Nuevo León and Escuela Adolfo Prieto.
It is important to know that all events are free admission and suitable for the whole family to enjoy.
Conarte’s Day of the Dead Program
- Inauguration of the altar of the dead and concert
Friday, October 25 at 12:00 noon at the Casa de la Cultura de Nuevo León.
Here you will learn about the elements that make up an altar of the dead, as well as its historical and cultural significance. You will also enjoy a concert of Mexican songs performed by Dolores Canta.
- Altar of the Dead in honor of Francisco Toledo
Wednesday, October 30 starting at 5:00 p.m. in the Glass Room of the Nace Generadores of the Centro de las Artes.
You will enjoy a collaborative altar of the dead assembly with students and teachers of the Faculty of Visual Arts of the UANL. There will also be a performance entitled “Francisco Toledo visiting the land of the dead”.
- Capsule: Day of the Dead
Saturday, November 2 from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the Adolfo Prieto School.
You will learn more about the Day of the Dead tradition, its pre-Hispanic origins and the Catholic religion.
- Concert: Ofrenda de cantos y cuentos (Offering of songs and stories)
Saturday, November 2 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Pinacoteca de Nuevo León.
You will enjoy a show of songs, stories and games that will make you understand how indissoluble life and death are.
- Presentation of Cuenti Drag
Sunday, November 3 from 12:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 15:00 at the Pinacoteca de Nuevo Leon.
You will listen to stories that talk about loss, mourning and the tradition of the Day of the Dead that will end with an art therapy workshop.
- Mask workshop, tour of stories and legends, and musical show.
Sunday, November 3, starting at 5:00 p.m. outside the Centro de las Artes.
