Every rainy season, the forests of Nuevo León hide one of the most amazing natural spectacles of the year. Thousands of fireflies emerge among the trees to light up the night with flashes that are part of their mating ritual, creating a scene that looks like something out of a fairy tale.
For those who want to experience this phenomenon up close, the Chipinque Nature Reserve has prepared “The Magic of Bioluminescence, ” an immersive experience designed to observe these tiny insects in their natural habitat while learning about their ecological importance.
A night walk among natural flashes
The activity begins with a screening of “The Magic of Bioluminescence” and continues with a guided walk led by specialized park rangers. In the dark and in silence, visitors will walk along trails surrounded by pine-oak forest while observing how fireflies transform the landscape into a natural light show.
The experience is designed for the whole family, as it is a gentle and accessible hike. Additionally, it has been designed in accordance with conservation guidelines that aim to minimize the impact on firefly populations and promote environmental awareness among participants.
Limited dates to enjoy the season
The tours will take place only during June, coinciding with the season when fireflies typically appear in greater numbers within the reserve. Since this is a natural phenomenon and an activity with limited capacity, it is recommended to plan your visit in advance.
In addition to the guided tour, the ticket includes individual access to the Chipinque Nature Reserve and parking during the activity.
