What happened to Sesame Street Park? This theme park was inaugurated 29 years ago and was one of the most iconic amusement parks in Nuevo Leon. However, it closed its doors and now it will become something totally different, we tell you about it!
The news was shared by the Government of Nuevo Leon and the Board of Directors of Fundidora Park, who announced that 10 hectares will return to be part of its administration after an agreement with Sesame Street Park.
The plan? To redesign more than 20 hectares of what used to be the theme park to turn it into an urban lung for all the citizens of Monterrey. This new space will have green areas and attractions similar to those found at Fundidora Park and will be completely free of charge and open to the public!
The halls, theaters, courts and walkways on the east side of Sesame Street Park will be used for different free activities for all the public who visit it.
Why did Sesame Street Park close its doors?
The iconic park, which was inaugurated in 1995, was visited for 29 years by all the inhabitants of northeastern Mexico. However, after being a favorite place for many, in 2020 it closed its doors for good.
The reason? Through social networks Sesame Street Park shared that the park was one more victim of the Covid-19 pandemic and had its first positive case in February 2020.
Now it has been announced its definitive end as we knew it, to make way for a new project that hopes to be enjoyed by the families of Monterrey for the next 100 years.
