Fancy going to a place where you can get away from the city and enjoy nature? A few kilometers away you can find amazing places to take a dip and have incredible views. These are the waterfalls near Monterrey that we recommend you visit as soon as you have the chance.
1. Horsetail
In the magical town of Villa Santiago, about 40 minutes from Monterrey, you will find the ecotourism park Horsetail, known for the 25-meter waterfall that gives it its name. The tour is safe and easily accessible for the whole family, although if you are in the mood for more exciting activities, there is bungee jumping, hanging bridges, canopy and more activities at an extra cost. The park has parking, barbecue grills and rest areas.

2. Chipitín Waterfall
Also in the Santiago area, this 90-meter waterfall is the closing of a stretch for the more adventurous people called Los 7 Rapeles and is the beginning of another known as Recorrido Hidrofobia, in which you must run, jump and swim with the guidance of a certified expert. But if you just want to enjoy the view of the waterfall, you can do a 45-minute hike with less pressure. From May to August, family camping and firefly tours are organized for the whole family, so ask for options at travel agencies.

3. El Salto
South of Monterrey, in Zaragoza, is the park that houses this waterfall. Although the trip is about four hours, it is well worth it. Fed by the waters of the Blanco River, El Salto is surrounded by some 500 hectares of forest and streams that make the place a good destination to take advantage of its camping area or cabins. It also has palapas, restrooms and grills.

5. El Cielo Waterfall
Inside La Estanzuela Park is the last waterfall on this list: El Cielo.
