The state of Nuevo León is rich in tradition, history and culture. It’s no surprise that there are museums in Monterrey that are not to be missed.
Monterrey is one of the most important industrial cities in the country. However, here are about 21 museums located at different points in the city.

1. Museum of Contemporary Art (MARCO)
One of the most renowned museums in Monterrey is the Museum of Contemporary Art, better known as MARCO.
It is located in the southern part of the Macroplaza and was designed by the famous Mexican architect Ricardo Legorreta.
It was inaugurated in 1991 and has been positioned as one of the best in contemporary art internationally.

2. Museum of Mexican History
The Mexican History Museum is another must-see museum in Monterrey. It is located near the Government Palace of the city.
The facility was designed by architects Óscar Bulnes and Augusto Álvarez, and was inaugurated in 1994.
Here you will find five rooms on the geography of the country, ancient Mexico, the Viceroyalty, the 19th century and Modern Mexico.
3. Museum of the Northeast (MUNE)
The Northwest Museum belongs to the 3 Museums complex along with the Palace Museum and the Mexican History Museum.
The architectural proposal of this one is surprising, but what it contains inside. Exhibitions of international stature.
It was inaugurated in conjunction with the celebration of the Universal Forum of Cultures Monterrey 2007 and has 1,600 square meters of permanent exhibition on the regional history of the northern states of Mexico.
4. Furnace Steel Museum 3
The Museo del Acero del Horno 3 is another of Monterrey’s most famous museums. It is located within the Fundidora Park and was the headquarters of the now defunct Compañía Fundidora del Fierro y Acero de Monterrey.
The 1965 building was restored to open its doors as a museum, and its main attraction is the High Furnace. 3, which has the capacity to melt 1,500 to 2,000 tons of iron.
5. Palace Museum
The Palace Museum is one of the most architecturally beautiful museums in Monterrey. Built at the beginning of the 20th century by order of General Bernardo Reyes, governor of Nuevo Leon in 1895.
This enclosure has three thematic axes: Laws, government and society. It has 4 rooms and more than 400 pieces of art, documents and photography.
6. El Obispado Museum
The Bishopric Museum is the only 18th century baroque building preserved in the state of Nuevo León.
This precinct was the first regional museum of the National Institute of Anthropology and History in northern Mexico, and was built at the end of the Viceroyalty.
It currently houses 10 rooms that narrate the history of Nuevo León and a collection of sacred art.
